Enrol in your courses

Once you accept your offer of admission, you’ll need to enrol in your courses. For new and incoming undergraduate students, enrolment begins on Tuesday, May 20.

Improve your language skills

Keep up your French or become completely fluent through �糵����’s French Immersion Stream. By taking some of your regular content courses in French, you’ll develop knowledge of your field in two languages.

Make sure you qualify by taking the Immersion Entry Test

Will you need housing and a meal plan?

Our residences offer housing on campus or in the surrounding areas. Meal plans depend on which style of residence you live in and how often you plan to eat on campus.

Pay your non-refundable admission deposit

You must pay a non-refundable admission deposit by the date specified in your admission offer in . The deposit amount will go towards your tuition fees for your admission term and it will be credited to your account when you enrol.

Your tuition deposit is non-refundable, except if your study permit application is rejected by IRCC. To qualify for a refund, you must provide proof your study permit application has been rejected. Once we’ve verified this, we’ll refund your deposit. You must request your refund by the last day to enrol for the term to which you’ve been admitted. We don’t grant refunds if you’re still awaiting a decision from IRCC regarding your study permit application.

Apply for your study permit

International students must have a valid study permit before starting classes in Canada and ensure it remains valid throughout their program. Apply as soon as you’ve accepted your offer of admission and received your provincial attestation letter.

Get your health insurance card

UHIP (University Health Insurance Plan) is a compulsory insurance plan for international students and their dependants.

Airport welcome for new students – August 28 to September 2, 2025

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to campus! From August 28 to September 2, 2025, University staff will be on site at the Ottawa International Airport between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to greet new students. Look for our team next to the �糵���� roll-up banners in the luggage collection area — they’ll be on hand to welcome you and provide you with a public transit ticket to get to campus.

If you would like to benefit from the airport welcome, please fill out the with your contact information and flight details in advance.

When you arrive at the University of Ottawa transit station, our staff will be there to direct you to your residence.

Once you've settled in, feel free to drop by Room 118 in Tabaret Hall, where we will be serving light refreshments. It’s a great place to relax, meet other new students and start making connections.

Get your student card

Your student card isn’t just a form of identification on campus. You can also use it for your transit access (U-Pass), meal plan, the library, photocopies on campus and gym membership, and as a campus debit card! You also must show your student card when taking exams.
