Biography
Dr. Mohamed Hefny is an AI scientist and biomedical engineer with a Ph.D. in computer science from Queen鈥檚 University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), with extensive experience in artificial intelligence, computational medicine, and medical informatics.
He currently holds a faculty position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Medical Physics at the University of Ottawa鈥檚 Faculty of Medicine. He also conducts research in artificial intelligence for medicine at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), where his work focuses on advancing computational approaches to support clinical innovation and translational research.
Dr. Hefny has held prior academic appointments at Queen鈥檚 University, Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson), and the University of Toronto, contributing to research, teaching, and mentorship in biomedical computing and intelligent health systems. His research has been supported by several competitive awards and fellowships, including the NSERC-CREATE Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship (NSERC), and multiple NVIDIA Hardware Grants.
