Biography
Almendra Burgos received her M.D. from the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City in 2013 where she also completed her psychiatry residency training. She completed a fellowship in Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment in Complex Mood Disorders at the University of Toronto, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Almendra is a clinician-researcher specializing in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and mood disorders. Her research integrates clinical innovation with equity-informed care, aiming to enhance access, effectiveness, and cultural relevance in mental health treatment. She has a strong interest in humanistic elements of medical practice, and this is central to her teaching philosophy.
