Biography

Dr. Adel Farah is a Staff Psychiatrist with interests in community mental health, complex psychiatric care, and dually diagnosed populations. He provides clinical leadership and direct patient care through The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, including the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment team for persons dually diagnosed (FACT-DD) and the Psychiatry Outreach Team. After graduating cum laude with an honours degree in biochemistry, Dr. Farah completed a Master鈥檚 in Neuroscience at McGill University before earning his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland School of Medicine. He then completed a year of research in the laboratory of Dr. Pierre Blier, at the Royal, focusing on neuropsychopharmacology, before beginning his psychiatry residency at the University of Ottawa.

Dr. Farah has a passion for working with individuals facing severe and persistent mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and complex psychosocial needs in particular those that are experiencing housing scarcity. His clinical approach emphasizes collaborative, patient-centered care, advocacy for vulnerable populations, and the integration of psychiatric, psychological, and social supports. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Farah is a University of Ottawa Lecturer and is actively involved in medical education and mentoring, contributing to the training of medical students and psychiatry residents.
