Biography

Jean-Fran莽ois Laberge is the Founder and Principal of Laberge Resolution Inc. As one of the few fully bilingual mediators and arbitrators in Ontario, Jean-Fran莽ois travels across the province to deliver alternative dispute resolution services in both French and English.

Jean-Fran莽ois is a trusted legal educator and guest speaker. As an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law 鈥 French Common Law Section of the University of Ottawa, he developed, updated and delivered the curriculum for three law courses for the French Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa鈥檚 Law Faculty: Professional Responsibility and Ethics (mandatory), 2023-present, Commercial Law Class, 2011-2016, Insurance Law Class, 2010-2011. He also routinely delivers programs, presentations and is invited as guest speaker at conferences and special continuing legal education programs, in both official languages.

Jean-Fran莽ois is a former discipline prosecutor and Practice Lead as well as a seasoned advocate and litigator. Previously, as Practice Lead and Discipline Counsel at the Law Society, Jean-Fran莽ois prosecuted complex, sensitive and high-profile regulatory matters while leading a team composed of seasoned discipline counsel charged with the prosecution of equally challenging and high-profile matters before the Law Society Tribunal of Ontario and appellate Courts. Prior to this, Jean-Fran莽ois was a partner and the youngest Head of the Litigation Group at Low Murchison Radnoff LLP, one of Ottawa鈥檚 oldest full-service law firms.

Jean-Fran莽ois is civic and community leader, recognised for being very active in the legal community. He鈥檚 been a board member of many organisations where he has led transformative projects, including the Association des juristes d鈥檈xpression fran莽aise de l鈥橭ntario, the County of Carleton Law Assocation, PractiquO and the Bingham Cup Ottawa 2022. He鈥檚 provided pro bono services to many organizations and currently sits as the President of the Ottawa Inclusive Sports Foundation, an organisation focused on funding and supporting programs fostering inclusivity and ending discrimination for the LGBTQ2SI+ in sports within the capital region, which he founded in 2022.
