The MakerLab, located next to the 电车无码 Richard L鈥橝bb茅 Makerspace, is a learning space that can host classes and workshops for 25-to-50 people. We regularly host workshops that show participants, who range in skill from beginner to advanced, how to properly and safely use rapid prototyping and digital fabrication equipment.

An introduction to digital prototyping
Training offered

Workshops
Gain practical skills in these instructor-led workshops tailored to various digital equipment. Our workshops are designed to complement classroom learning and prepare students for real-world engineering challenges. Whether you鈥檙e a first-time user or an experienced maker, our onboarding process ensures you understand safety protocols and machine operation.
Some training is mandatory to use restricted Makerspace equipment.
Training for restricted Makerspace equipment:
- 3D printing (resin)
- Laser cutting
- CNC embroidery
- PCB milling
Other training workshops on:
- 3D printing (FDM)
- Computer-aided design (CAD)
- Arduino programming
- Soldering
- Cricut and heat press
- 3D scanning
- Virtual reality (VR)
- Electronic computer-aided design (ECAD)
- Vacuum forming

Custom training sessions
We offer customized training sessions on specific tools, techniques or workflows to meet the needs of faculty, research labs and external partners. Whether it鈥檚 a one-time seminar or an in-depth hands-on course, we鈥檒l work with you to design training that delivers practical, targeted results.
Courses offered at the MakerLab
Some Faculty of Engineering design courses take place in the MakerLab. If you take these courses, you will receive training on some of the equipment as part of the course.
Courses
- GNG1103: CAD, Arduino programming, laser cutting
- GNG2101: Arduino programming, circuits, soldering
Individuals and organizations can . We鈥檙e always looking for new clients to keep our courses relevant to real-world needs.
What comes next?

Once you've completed the training at the MakerLab that鈥檚 required to use the restricted equipment, you will be allowed to use these tools in the Richard L鈥橝bb茅 Makerspace. We also offer optional training on other equipment to provide a more structured learning experience; we recommend this training as a great first step for new learners in the space.
The Makerspace offers supervised access hours, additional tools and workspaces, and fosters a collaborative environment designed to support innovation and hands-on learning. We encourage you to go whenever the space is open to work on independent projects, course work or entrepreneurial prototypes.
