Meet the Dean.
Dean Marc Charron
Marc Charron is Dean of the Faculty of Arts and a Professor at the University of Ottawa.
Professor Charron served as Interim Dean of the Faculty of Arts from January 1st to June 30th, 2024, after holding the position of Associate Vice-Provost, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at the University. He also held the position of Vice-Dean, Academic Programs at the Faculty of Arts from 2018 to 2023.
Marc Charron has been a professor at the University of Ottawa's School of Translation and Interpretation since 2007, where he served as Director of both the School鈥檚 Graduate and Undergraduate Studies Committees. His research interests include transcultural studies, comparative literature and the translated book market. Dr. Charron was also the recipient of the Faculty of Arts Teaching Excellence Award in 2014.

Vice-Dean Governance

Brian Ray
Brian Ray is the vice-dean, governance at the Faculty of Arts and a professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics. His research interests include discrimination in Canada, the changing linguistic landscape of Ottawa-Gatineau, and the geographic dimensions of employment among immigrants and second-generation Canadians living in large cities.

Monika Jezak
Monika Jezak has over 30 years鈥 experience in teaching French as a second language in various settings, such as immersion classes, adult immigrant programs, and university. She has served as a language policy expert in a variety of organizations, including UNESCO, the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks, and the Canadian government.
Vice-Dean Programs

Jada Watson
Jada Watson is vice-dean, programs at the Faculty of Arts and professor of Digital Humanities in the School of Information Studies. Her research aims to harness the potential of music industry data to study how popular music genres form, develop and change over time. She leads , a research program that investigates racial and gender inequity in the popular music industry, with much of her work centred on the North American country music industry.

Genevi猫ve Boucher
Genevi猫ve Boucher is Vice-Dean Research at the Faculty of Arts and a professor in the D茅partement de fran莽ais. Her area of expertise is eighteenth-century French literature. She is one of the leading specialists on the works of Louis S茅bastien Mercier and has spent the past twenty years working on various aspects of revolutionary imagination. In her teaching, she is also interested in autobiographical writing, dialogue of ideas and literary representations of sport.
