Students at Franco-Ontarian day holding a Franco-Ontarian flag

Description

On September 25, join us at the University of Ottawa to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag!

We invite students, staff members, professors, alumni, partners and members of the public to participate in this main event on Franco-Ontarian Day to celebrate the anniversary of the first raising of this emblem of the Francophonie in Ontario.

Celebrations will open with a tintamarre, which is a loud, festive parade, starting from Tabaret Hall. Use a cowbell, tambourine, spoons, pots and pans, or simply your voice to bring the Francophonie to life on campus!

After the tintamarre, we will raise the Franco-Ontarian flag at University Square as a heartfelt symbol of our roots, our common history, our shared future and our love for the Francophonie in Ontario.

Why take part in these celebrations?

  • To highlight a defining, historic moment for the Francophonie in Ontario
  • To spread Franco-Ontarian culture throughout our University community
  • To enjoy an inclusive, festive gathering
  • To discover, or rediscover, the University of Ottawa鈥檚 Francophone history

Register today to confirm your participation!

IMPORTANT

In case of heavy rain, the event will be held at 11 a.m. at the Agora of the University Centre (UCU).
