It started with a simple question: How can we bring the creativity of our faculty out into the open? That question sparked a collaboration that brought together teams from across campus. The result? A striking new LED wall now mounted on the exterior of the Faculty of Arts, turning heads and sparking curiosity from passersby. But this isn’t just a flashy new feature; it’s a symbol of creativity, collaboration, and the power of technology to bring ideas to life.
From Vision to reality
The goal was to create a space where the Faculty of Arts could showcase its energy, talent, and community spirit. But designing an outdoor installation in Ottawa’s climate meant thinking through every detail; from selecting the right technology to building a structure that could withstand snow, heat, and wind.
The project united Information Technology specialists in audiovisual systems and structural engineering, all aligned under a shared vision. The outcome is a sleek, resilient installation that seamlessly blends form and function.
Now live, the LED wall is already making an impact. It’s being used to highlight student projects, promote events, and share messages that reflect the vibrant life of the faculty.
More than just a display, it’s a new way to connect with students, staff, and the wider community; a way to bring what happens inside the faculty out into the open.
Where technology supports learning
This project is about more than infrastructure. It’s a powerful example of how technology can work hand in hand with faculties to support learning, amplify academic work, and create new opportunities for storytelling and outreach.
While the LED wall may be the most visible part of the project, the real story is what it represents: a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and the belief that great things happen when people from different fields collaborate.
