Digital Self-Defence training is broken down into four short modules. Based on early adopter testing, we estimate that you should be able to complete a module in about 27 minutes. We follow up on this training by sending phishing simulations direct to your inbox and by conducting post-training surveys. 

The training covers these topics:

• How to protect yourself and the University of Ottawa
• How cyberthreat actors prey on your emotions to access valuable information
• How threats are present in everyday tasks, applications and devices
• How to protect yourself against cyber threats

We also provide on-demand training on topics such as phishing, artificial intelligence (AI), device loss, social media and more.

All academic and support staff members must complete this mandatory training.

• Protect yourself against cyber threats that are increasingly sophisticated and subtle
• Protect personal and University information
• Identify security risks related to data and personal information
• Know what to do when facing an IT security risk
