The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to announce that CLTS Faculty member Céline Castets-Renard, has been awarded the University of Ottawa Research Chair on Accountable Artificial Intelligence in a Global World. Recognizing Professor Castets-Renard international voice, this new Chair strengthens the Centre’s global leadership in technology law, ethics and policy.

The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to announce that CLTS Director and Faculty member Florian Martin-Bariteau, has been awarded the University of Ottawa Research Chair on Technology and Society. This milestone highlights Dr. Martin-Bariteau’s international recognition, and further strengthens the Centre’s global leadership in technology law, ethics and policy.

The Centre for Law, Technology and Society is delighted to announce that PhD candidate Esther Ekong has been awarded an International Peace Scholarship by the Philanthropic Educational Organization.

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Dubois, a CLTS Faculty member and an Assistant Professor within the Department of Communication at the Faculty of Arts, has been awarded the Faculty of Arts’ 2020 Early Researcher of the Year Award.

The University of Ottawa has received 10 Early Researcher Awards from the Ontario government. The award program aims to help new researchers build their research teams.

Professors Constance Crompton, director of the Humanities Data Lab at the Faculty of Arts and Ebrahim Karimi, head of the Structured Quantum Optics Group at the Faculty of Science, have received the University’s Early Career Researcher of the Year Awards.

It is with enormous grief and sadness that we announce that our dear friend, colleague, and world-widely renowned law and technology expert, Dr. Ian Kerr passed away on August 27, 2019 due to complications arising from cancer.

The Digital Ecosystem Research Challenge has awarded 18 Research Awards ranging from $3,000 to $75,000 to research teams from Canada and abroad to research the impacts and uses of digital media during the 2019 Federal Election in Canada. The winning projects focus on topics ranging from environmental politics, to political advertising.

The University occupies 69th place in the inaugural THE University Impact Ranking, which evaluates the contributions of universities around the world to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Florian Martin-Bariteau, the director of the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society and an Assistant Professor within the Common Law Section of the Faculty of Law, has been awarded the Common Law Section 2018-2019 Emergent Researcher Award by the Common Law Section of the Faculty of Law.
